Young designers are offered the opportunity to present their creations and get some press attention on the catwalks. London Alternative Fashion Week is where all the best new designers are to be discovered.
It provides a genuine alternative for them to present their work directly to the press, public and the fashion industry. Designers come from all over the UK and other parts of the world including Italy, Spain, Norway, Poland, Bulgaria, Uruguay & Sri Lanka.
With 14 designers per day the quirky and wonderful fashion theatricals just keep on coming. There was also a Fashion Market where some of the designers will be selling their clothes, textiles and accessories.
Original and recycled textiles are a major feature. There were women’s and men’s wear from the sublime to the sensational, with an emphasis on environmental awareness and ethical sourcing.Alternative Fashion Week also encourages a diverse range of models and offers training to aspiring Naomi Campbells keen to get out on the catwalk.
AFW, organised by Alternative Arts, adds a real depth of flavour to London’s fashion circuit. They’ll be back in April 2014.
