Is your Garlic or Garlic Allicin Supplement eating a hole in your brain?

Garlic - When swallowing a Garlic Supplement, little thought is given to what's really in the pill or capsule. Sure, most people can look at the label and identify the Garlic or Allicin content. But what about all of that fine print?

June 26, 2010 - PRLog -- Tampa Bay, FL. - Garlic Supplement Research by Liberty Health Network, LLC  identified a long list of chemicals in Garlic products that warrant investigation. While the amounts of the chemicals listed are quite small, one has to question the long term effects of ingesting these chemicals not just in Garlic but in other supplements. Concern is also about the effects of handling and ingesting a number of other nutritional supplements (with the same chemicals) over time.

"It's like eating a greasy hamburger at a fast food restaurant." Says Chief Operating Officer Russell Bly. "You are not going to grab your chest and die walking to the car from the first burger. But over time, it's the compounding effects that we are learning about. Just like Lead in Paint, and Asbestos in insulation, it took us years to figure out that we were poisoning ourselves one super-sized burger at a time."

While it may take years to learn the long-term effects of certain chemicals, one thing is clear to Bly: "If a chemical requires the workers handling it to have access  to a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and If that sheet identifies health concerns, the chemical is not going into a Liberty Product."

Garlic from a National Brand was analyzed by Liberty Health. The National Brand Garlic was compared to Liberty's AlliSTAR supplement. Researchers were concerned about the  Chemicals, and the known health effects as listed on their respective MSDS Sheet. While the US Government feels these chemicals are acceptable within established limits, it's up to the consumer to make the best determination for them self.

Garlic was not all that was found in the National Brand. In fact, the list of added chemicals was shocking. To drive home their point, Liberty Health provides direct links to outside Material Safety Data Sheets on the chemicals listed.

"Garlic supplements actually cost more to manufacture without the added chemicals. But at Liberty, we feel our customers deserve better products. Purity is the main differentiating factor in our supplements such as our AlliStar Garlic Allicin. Here's the way we look at it. A municipal swimming pool has a water quality that the local governments deems safe to ingest. Now if given the choice of purchasing pure bottled water, or a getting a free glass of water dipped from that municipal pool on a hot weekend afternoon, which glass would most prefer?" Asks Bly.

With seafood facing possible contamination from the Gulf oil spill, Food Products from major suppliers being recalled due to mysterious smells, and Nutritional Supplements packed with chemicals known to accumulate in the body or cause other health concerns, the question begs to be asked: How much can the human body handle in the form of potential  poisons? Unfortunately, we may not know for another generation or two. But for now, conventional wisdom demands that consumers avoid as many potentially harmful  chemicals as possible to ensure a long and healthy lifestyle.
