Wally Edgar Chevrolet Chronicles The 2011 Cruze's Race To North America - WTCC UPDATE

June 23, 2010 - PRLog -- ZOLDER,BELGIUM   - Chevrolet is keeping the leadership in both the Drivers' and Manufacturers' championship after the Belgian round of the WTCC, which saw the Cruzes achieving six finishes in the points, including two podiums.
 Yvan Muller finished third in Race 1, while Rob Huff took second in Race 2, with Alain Menu finishing fourth twice. This allows Chevrolet to keep the lead in the Manufacturers' overall standings, while Muller continues to lead in the Drivers' one, and Huff now in third position. Thanks to the solid performances posted by their three top drivers, Chevrolet collected a great deal of points that enabled Muller to maintain his leadership in the Drivers’ Championship (but Tarquini and Priaulx have closed the gap) and the American brand to stay on top of the Manufacturers.

BALLAST? - 40 KG OF EXTRA WEIGHT FOR CRUZE AND LEÓN »The Chevrolet Cruze and the SEAT León TDI remained the heaviest cars of the field. Like in the previous event at Monza, in Zolder they carried the maximum compensation weight of 40 kilos. The compensation weight has been determined by the lap times set in Brazil, Morocco and Italy. According to this calculation, the León TDI emerged as the fastest car, one tenth faster than the Cruze and half-a-second faster than the BMW 320si. The German cars were imposed 20 extra kilos for Zolder.

June 24th marks the last production of the Chevrolet Cobalt at the GM Lordstown, Ohio plant where the New CHEVROLET CRUZE production will ramp up next month for it's long awaited debut in North America.
