June 23, 2010 - PRLog -- WASHINGTON – The nationally- and internationally-renowned Boston Children’s Chorus will celebrate the Fourth of July with a free performance on the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage in Washington, D.C. The event will be streamed live via the Internet at http://www.kennedy-center.org/programs/millennium/.

The Washington performance is part of an East Coast tour for the award-winning music group’s Premier Choir and Young Men’s Ensemble, and also includes a performance July 5 with Children’s Chorus of Washington at the historic Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church.

The Boston Children’s Chorus (BCC http://www.bostonchildrenschorus.org), led by Artistic Director Anthony Trecek-King, is made up of a vast array of more than 350 singers ages 7-18 from across the city and suburbs. It is a diverse racial, ethnic, religious and socioeconomic collection of youths who serve as ambassadors of harmony, working together to create music and in the process break down barriers, build friendships, alliances, self-confidence and hope.

The East Coast tour, which includes stops in Philadelphia; Frederick, Md.; St. Joseph’s University and Georgetown University, continues BCC’s tradition of alternating national and international educational travel experiences that enhance the chorus’ mission to inspire social change through music.

Other scheduled performances include:
•   July 1 Please Touch! Museum, Philadelphia, 2:30-3 p.m.
•   July 2 Wannamaker’s Organ Concert at Macy’s, Philadelphia, 7 p.m.
•   July 3 All Saints Episcopal Church, with the Frederick Children’s Chorus, Frederick, MD, 4-5 p.m.
•   July 4 St. John’s Church, Lafayette Square, Washington DC, 10:30-11:45 a.m.

Earlier this year, BCC earned national acclaim as the best local “artistic, creative and inspirational media presentation” when its annual televised tribute concert – “Raising the Roof: Celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. in Song,” – was honored with a prestigious Gabriel Award. It’s second CD, “This is the Sound of Harmony,” is available through the iTunes Store, CDBaby.com, Rhapsody, Napster and at DigStation.com.
