Step Back in Time with Story Land’s Enchanting History

Local author recalls the fascinating past of New Hampshire’s beloved amusement park

June 23, 2010 - PRLog -- In 1954, Story Town opened by the Morrell family and called Story Land one year later. For 56 years, the fantasy-based children’s theme park in New Hampshire’s White Mountains has captured the hearts of many New Englanders, both young and old.

In a new book by Arcadia Publishing, vintage photographs document the journey of Story Land from its conception to operation and present-day facilities.

This remarkable photograph collection, compiled by local author Jim Miller, illustrates the unlikely beginnings and creative entrepreneurship behind one of New England's most memorable and enduring childhood institutions.

Highlights of Story Land:
•Features over 200 historic photographs from the park's archives
•Provides text on the founding of Story Land, White Mountains Attractions Association and the White Mountain National Bank (now part of Citizens Bank)
•Illustrates the evolution of familiar scenes over the park’s 50-plus years
•Includes rare photographs of Story Land’s now-closed sister attraction, Heritage-NH.
