June 18, 2010 - PRLog -- ATLANTIC CITY, NEW JERSEY – June 18, 2010, In a growing effort to increase distribution, JASBR Marketing Group announces a partnership with QDI, Quality Distributor LLC. This will bring a full-service recycling program to more than 2,000 independent mobile storefronts. The R3 Program differs from others in the industry, in that it accepts many different hand-held electronic devices and gives the customer the choice of trading in the device for value or donating it to a charity. Cell phone trade-ins, like iPods, can have value up to $100, or even more.

"We're pleased to add QDI to our R3 Recycle Program. We understand the importance of what recycling means to the planet, and our partnership with QDI helps to expand our efforts.” said Scott Dantis, CEO of JASBR, New Business & Green Initiatives, “It’s a great fit for both groups, as customers are upgrading or purchasing new smart phones and other electronics, the R3 program not only protects the old device from landfills, but also gives the customer value to save on the new items they purchase.”

“We are excited about both the revenue opportunity for our stores, and the recycling message we send to our customers and communities.” Bill Abbott, President of QDI, says “In addition to reducing landfill waste, we see this as a positive example of how we are helping the environment, and providing value to our dealers and customers”.

Nationwide, 130 million cellular phones go out of use annually, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. That creates an estimated 65,000 tons of electronic garbage. The objective of R3 is to provide an option to customers who might throw these devices in the garbage. Additionally, it allows customers to get value from any old phones they may have in a drawer. All devices received are either refurbished or recycled, which reduces ewaste, as well as manufacturer demand for raw materials. Accepted devices are cell phones, PDS’a, hand-held games, car audio players, GPS devices and more.

Many other like programs only accept cell phones for recycling. “We are taking the recycling industry to another level”. adds Scott Dantis, “We aren’t limiting our efforts to just cell phones, we know there is a demand for the recycling of other hand-held electronics and we want to lead the way to this initiative.”
