Matagiri Sri Aurobindo Center is hosting a conference featuring Tiokasin Ghosthorse, author Richard Geldard and designer, author Mira Nakashima entitled "Manifesting the Spiritual Destiny of America".
The conference is being held at Menla Mountain Retreat near Woodstock, NY.
Tiokasin hosts "First Voices" on Native American issues on WBAI in New York. Richard has just written a book on "Emerson and the Dream of America" and Mira is the daughter of woodworker, George Nakashima, who was named a "living national treasure" of Japan. Mira is carrying on her father's work and is author of "Nature, Form and Spirit" (Abrams, 2003).
Richard Hartz, a graduate in philosophy from Yale University, will speak on Reinhold Niebuhr, author of the "Serenity Prayer" and how it compares to the "Yoga of Self-Perfection"
The public is invited to attend the entire conference or commute daily, please call for prices. Student scholarships are available. Yoga, tai chi, hiking, swimming and tennis are available.
One can also independently attend Friday night's lecture by Native American artists Judy Abbott and Tiokasin Ghosthorse and Saturday night's lecture on architect Frank Lloyd Wright and furniture designer George Nakashima.
