June 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Pasadena, CA, June 07, 2010 – The non-profit Center for Automotive Research has announced that there are around 15,000 jobs available in the auto industry. These jobs are not being filled up due to a labor shortage of skilled personal. In fact, in the next three years, the industry could end up adding up to 100,000 jobs each year.

“But not all the jobs are going to be in the same places and for people with the same skill sets as before.” says A. Harrison Barnes, CEO of Hound.com, a leading job search engine.

To get these jobs, workers will have to be ready to be relocated and increase their skill level by re-training if needed. Most of the new jobs will require workers to have at least an Associate’s degree or some kind of advanced training beyond a high school diploma.

In May, the Big Three – General Motors, Ford and Chrysler, noted double digit sales compared to May 2009, with Chrysler selling over 100,000 vehicles for the second time in two years. Asian and European automakers have also seen increased demand for their cars and light trucks. What this means is increased demand for qualified individuals in the factories of both automakers and auto parts makers.

Ford has announced that it is adding 220 workers to two of its plants in Michigan, which it says will be related to green technologies. Even the UAW has said that it is looking forward to making gains in its next round of contract negotiations in 2011 and is expecting job additions in Ford, GM and Chrysler.

Hound.com has around 3000 jobs available in the auto industry, which can be looked by either type or geographic region. According to Barnes, these are all jobs fetched straight from the employer websites and are available throughout the country, especially in Michigan, Massachusetts, Ohio, Texas, Tennessee and California.
