WG Wood Products Carries New Mantle Shelf

June 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Sarasota, Florida – This week WG Wood Products introduced a new mantle shelf into its inventory due to popular demand. The custom-made wood shelf and cabinet company saw a need for the new item, which has an invisible mounting to the wall after several inquiries from customers.

“Most of the time, people are looking for a floating shelf to put up without any visible support.” said Michael Sloan, president of WG Wood Products. “We offered a smaller, similar style, but we were previously unable to get this type of molding. This is an upgraded look. It is much more elegant and much easier to work with.”

Customers can choose from mantle shelves 4 1/2, 6 and 7 3/4 inches deep, and a variety of lengths ranging from 1 foot to 5 feet long. It is unique from their other shelf systems. With a French cleat design, the weight of the shelf and the items on it are transferred back to the wall itself.

“The way it’s designed, it is not necessary to mount the shelf to a stud, you can just mount it directly to the drywall,” said Sloan. “It can be put over a fireplace or it can go on a wall by itself with no means of support. People like to use them for pictures, knickknacks and mementos without having a cabinet or other furniture taking away from their presentation.”

The mantle shelf is custom made from solid whitewood radiant pine with a stain finish, a vinyl sealer and two coats of lacquer. There are 20 different colors for the customer to choose from on the Florida-based company’s website.
