“In addition to helping children in need, the Tee For Tee initiative also helps educate children about eco-awareness and sustainability,” Everyone at the K.I.D.S.’ Women in Industry Luncheon will receive the Wiloh “Bamboo Panda” tee, by guest designer Tokyo Candies’ Rubens Cantuni, of Genoa, Italy. His artwork and designs have been featured on limited editions of Pro-Keds® footwear, skateboards, hoodies and other products. Cantuni with his unique style and influence from Japanese pop art, is also the designer behind the ‘Love Balloon Bear’ tee (right) that will be donated to Haitian children. “On so many levels, this program is a great marriage of fashion and social responsibility,” Wiloh is all about eco-street wear and promoting professional artists, illustrators and designers. The company’s private fashion label delivers the designs far and wide through an online platform. The intial unisex tee collection of 12 designs by five individual global designers is due to launch July 1st, 2010 at http://www.wiloh.com. Each Wiloh tee comes tagged with information about the artist, and the company only prints limited edition designs on eco-friendly bamboo tees using water based inks. "Ecosocial" Kids In Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.) kicks off its 25th Anniversary year with the 4th Annual Women In Industry Luncheon honoring three women of achievement for their support of children in need. Acclaimed broadcast journalist Roz Abrams will emcee the event and Silda Wall Spitzer, Founding Chair of Children for Children, will provide a keynote speech on the important values that volunteerism can instill in children. The luncheon will be Thursday, June 3, 2010 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Pierre Hotel, East 61st Street at 5th Avenue in New York City. Honorees: Elyse Kroll, Chairman & CEO of the fashion trade show company ENK International. A dynamic leader in the apparel and trade show industry, Kroll has been a long-time supporter of K.I.D.S., providing the organization with access to product donations and building relationships with companies through many of her trade shows. Liz Lange, Founder of Liz Lange Maternity, Completely Me by Liz Lange and Shopafrolic.com. Lange has provided women everywhere with a fashionable role model for motherhood through her fashion businesses and she also supports a variety of causes on issues pertaining to fertility and families. Her award will be presented by Mindy Grossman, CEO of retailer HSN Inc. Christina Miller, Senior Vice President of Turner Sports & Cartoon Network Enterprises. An accomplished executive in the entertainment and news organization of Turner Sports and Cartoon Network Enterprises, Miller is a member of the K.I.D.S board of directors and has provided tremendous help in donations of new toys, clothes and other licensed product donations to K.I.D.S.
