What’s Up Interactive CEO to Moderate Georgia Bio Gubernatorial Forums

Atlanta interactive marketing agency’s leader and longtime radio and television business commentator will moderate events next month.

April 26, 2010 - PRLog -- Atlanta’s What’s Up Interactive CEO Richard Warner will moderate both the Democratic and Republican gubernatorial candidate forums organized by Georgia Bio (GaBio) and hosted by Kennesaw State University’s (KSU) College of Science and Mathematics.

“This is an opportunity to address three major topics critical to our state’s future: life sciences economic development, K-12 science education and federal health care reform,” said Charles Craig, president of Georgia Bio. “We expect a lively exchange of ideas on these important topics,” said Laurence I. Peterson, dean of KSU’s College of Science and Mathematics.

All the major candidates have committed to this early round of debates, prior to the primaries. The Democratic candidates’ forum is set for Thursday, May 20, from 6 – 7 p.m. The Republican candidates’ forum will be Thursday, May 27, from 6 – 7 p.m. Both forums will be held in the KSU College of Science and Mathematics Auditorium. There is no charge to attend but registration is required through GaBio’s website: www.gabio.org.
Warner, veteran business journalist and host of Georgia’s Business on Georgia Public Broadcasting, is frequently in demand as a speaker or moderator for business events throughout the state. Well-received at the recent Small Business Week Celebration of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, Warner spoke of lessons learned from the hundreds of CEOs he has interviewed during 30 years of broadcasting.

Earlier this month, he was called on by state leaders to emcee the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s 51st Red Carpet Tour during its business session in Brunswick. Using the lure of spring in Georgia and the Masters in Augusta, the annual Red Carpet Tour welcomes national and international business leaders who may be considering relocating or expanding. They see the state and meet leaders of business, government and Georgia Department of Economic Development.

Also in April, he served as master of ceremonies for the Governor’s Annual Manufacturers Luncheon, honoring manufacturing companies that have exemplified excellence in operations. He also emceed “Digitainment,” the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) event where a new white paper on technology in Georgia was released. One of TAG’s many programs, Digitainment is a specialized group that focuses on digital entertainment companies in the video game, interactive, video and music space.

And this marks the sixth year Warner has worked with Women in Technology (WIT) to provide media training for senior corporate executive members from major Georgia companies through WIT’s annual executive coaching program.

Warner has also spoken or moderated events organized by Atlanta Business Chronicle, Atlanta Press Club, Public Relations Society of America, Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Georgia Trend Magazine, the Business Marketing Association, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.

Warner founded the What’s Up news fax (now Atlanta Daybook) 20 years ago and is now CEO of Daybook Network and What's Up Interactive, an interactive marketing agency whose roster of clients includes the Georgia Lottery, the Georgia Aquarium, AmericasMart, FOX Television Stations, the Coca-Cola Co. and dozens of other organizations. Based in north Atlanta with 30+ employees, What’s Up Interactive helps companies tap the sales and marketing power of the Web through design and technology, streaming video and audio, and search engine marketing and social media strategies.

Appointed by Governor Sonny Perdue to the Georgia Film, Video and Music Commission, Warner also serves on the Board of Trust at his alma mater, the Henry W. Grady School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Georgia, on Atlanta’s Grady Hospital Board, the Marketing Committees for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau. He is a columnist for “Business to Business” Magazine and writes a blog at http://www.richardwarner.com. He is active in the American Marketing Association and previously served as president of the Atlanta Chapter.
