How do I begin the process of renovating my home?

April 24, 2010 - PRLog -- 1. Start with an idea list for the new house plan for your house renovation. Determine what new rooms you want to add or want to renovate and determine what other rooms you want to enlarge. Do you want to add a new family room? Do you want to add a new kitchen or modernize your kitchen? Do you want a new master bathroom that looks like those in those new model homes? Do you want to renovate the front of your home to new fresh and look modern? These are kind of questions you should ask yourself.
2. Determine how much money you have in your budget to design and build the new house plan for the renovation project.
3. Find and select an architect to design your new house plan of your renovation project. Search on-line for architects that design custom house plans such as Architect Boye. Also ask the Architect for references of other clients that they have new custom house plans for renovations.
4. Architect will submit to you with a fee proposal agreement for the renovation. Review Architect’s terms of work and fees and approve fees per your budget you have allocated for design work for new house plans.
5. Architect will meet with you, walk through your home and then design the preliminary house plans based on your ideas and based on your budget.
6. Architect then meets with you again to review the preliminary design house plans. You make comments and Architect then revises the preliminary design house plans and gets your final approval.
7. Find and select a Contractor. Ask Contractor for list of client references that Contractor has done home renovations for. You get a Contractor to price this preliminary design house plans to make sure that the design matches your budget. Once Contractor’s preliminary design pricing is approved by you, then you can authorize Architect to finalize drawings.
8. Architect proceeds and finishes the final blueprints for the new house plans for your renovated house.
9. Contractor will submit you with a final construction price and a construction agreement for the renovation project. Review Contractor's pricing, terms of work for the new house plans. If you are satisfied with negotiations and after thorough review of agreement, then you have to make the decision to approve the Contractor's agreement per your construction budget and stated scope of work.
10. You sign contract with Contractor and Contractor gets permit and begins to build the new house plans for your renovation project.
11. You can hire the Architect to do construction administration service. Architect will visit your site during the construction process to make sure that the project is going fine as well as make sure that your new project is built according to your vision and your house plans.
12. Your dream home ideas have now become a reality!
