Free Training for Parents of Challenging 3 to 10 Year Olds

April 15, 2010 - PRLog -- Lorri Craig, the Psychologist behind Psychology Through the Internet dot com, is about to start free online training for parents. The first in a series of three one hour weekly webinars starts Thursday 22 April 2010. The title of this series is 'How to Manage Your 3 to 10 Year Old Child'.

Craig has been working clinically with parents and children for many years. She explains, "This series of webinars introduces simple but effective strategies for managing children's behaviour. It will be particularly helpful for parents who are struggling to control a difficult child, but the principles are relevant for any parent or carer.

"Parenting can be very challenging at times. Although many parents understand that smacking is not the best way to discipline a child, they have not been taught alternative strategies, so many are feeling powerless and inadequate.  

"I think that almost every parent would benefit from parent training, but for most it is too time consuming, and expensive to bother with. The internet now allows parent training to happen in parents' homes. And the cost of production is so inexpensive that I can afford to offer this series for free."

In case you are unfamiliar with the term, a 'webinar' is an online seminar that participants from anywhere in the world can join via their computers. Craig promises the webinar will be interactive in the tradition of face to face workshops. The participants will be able to see and hear the presenter and see her presentation slides, and can ask questions if they choose. They will also be encouraged to do practical exercises in workbooks, and apply the strategies with their children between webinars.
