Playmate goes to Mt Everest

March 25, 2010 - PRLog -- This May 2010, Petra Verkaik, The Most Published Woman in Playboy, will be going to the Himalayas  where she will trek to Mt Everest Base Camp. She may not be first woman or man, but PETRA will be THE FIRST PLAYMATE TO MOUNT EVEREST.

Petra Verkaik is an avid hiker, biker and traveler ... she recycles, eats organic, loves history and documentaries.

*She has gone cave diving in Cenotes down in the Yucatan Peninsula near the K-T boundary where the asteroid hit earth around 60 million years ago and wiped out the dinosaurs.

*She has gone cave spelunking for 5 hours in Sagada, Northern Province of Philippines.

*She has trekked to many temples in Asia, including Angkor Wat in Cambodia

*She has been in the catacombs of Italy, staring face-to-face into the stone representation of Mithra slaying the bull. That's three levels below St San Clemente's church in Rome, Italy.

*She is The Most Published Woman in Playboy History, and is currently featured on Playboy.com (March/April 2010).

She has modeled for Playboy for over 20 years, and at 43, she is unstoppable.

“I love adventure and exploration…this is such an amazing world to see and to preserve.”

When asked how she does it?
"Simplicity in happiness, being at the gym, working out with weights and taking classes…but there is nothing like getting outside…going into the wilderness breathing in all the fresh air and taking on an adventure like this.”

“I'm getting more and more excited everyday that goes by….and I'm training harder, longer, and more often. It's really cool.”

When asked what is her biggest concern?
“There is so much to prepare for with a trip like this. I still need to get lots of gear to keep me warm. I might pay a couple Sherpas to spend the night with me...one on each side".

Petra Verkaik will be marking her journey with the Playboy Bunny flag to the elevation of 17,500 feet for the classic “I've arrived” photo. She may not be the first woman, but Petra will be the first Playmate ever to journey to Mt Everest Base Camp.

“This will definitely be the highest I've ever been.”

“A small hop for a Petra, and a giant Bunny Hop for the Playmates”.

“Who knows, maybe next year I really will climb Mount Everest.”
