PRLog (Press Release) - Mar. 23, 2010 - Omega Fish Products (OFP), a non profit and private research farm helping Government Agencies to develop the future aquaponic industry in Australia, has been taken over by industry leader #1 Aquaponics. Gavin Smith, OFP Production Manager explained that OFP business growth had been static with dedicated staff working for little personal gain.
“We are a professionally qualified private research and services organisation with 20 yrs plus experience to our competitors. We have a global personal network of industry experts whom we communicate with regularly. The pool of money is limited for private enterprise organisations such as ours, something had to give”

The take over by #1 Aquaponics has allowed 48yrs of combined experience to be added to a multi disciplined business plan for the research farm that will allow sales of produce and numerous commercial manufactured products made available to the general public sector. Recent sales have been promising as the buzz worthiness of the new services attracts a larger customer base and develops cash flow for further research.

Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) have been trialled in the outdoor research production area and Andrew Dezsery M.Sc from #1 Aquaponics who was awarded a Fellowship from the International Specialised Skills Industry, visited NASA in USA and their manufacturer of LEDs to discuss and further develop these technologies for the upcoming industry.

Andrew said “We are now focussed to attract wholesale customers for our produce/products and services and begin to establish a greater market penetration as our drive for commercial sector development continues.

#1 Aquaponics provides sustainable methods and green farming technologies for the aquaculture and horticulture industries. The business was developed from the need to value add industry waste produced from recirculating aquaculture systems Andrew helped develop in the early 90’s. This future value added industry can now create a sector for employment whilst providing bio secure foods for our nation.

“Our drive is the goal of providing green, carbon neutral, fresh and organic and sustainable foods to Australians whilst creating employment, water efficiencies, food security and functional and nutritious food products that can be grown in urban, rural or even rooftop systems."

"We also run courses and education programs for home dwellers to provide fresh food at the back door for their families whilst saving water and the fragile ecosystem from chemical over use and dependence.”

Home and commercial sized systems can be purchased from #1 Aquaponics and Andrew encourages wholesalers to apply for distribution rights to their trademarked products and services.
