Follow on Google News | Keyano College meet industry demands with Immersive Technologies training simulatorsCanadian based education institute, Keyano College, has expanded the capacity of its mining operator training program with the acquisition of additional simulators from Immersive Technologies.
By: Immersive Technologies Commissioned in February 2010, the college’s latest simulator package includes five simulators, together with five modular ‘Conversion Kits’, simulating a range of Caterpillar and Komatsu haul truck models. Keyano College Program Coordinator, Janet Somerville said “We had been providing the oil sands companies with 72 graduates a year. With these additional simulators we now have the ability to double our graduate numbers to 150 whilst also increasing students’ simulator based training time to approximately 20 hours, whereas before they were only getting around 8 hours.” Immersive Technologies Regional Business Development Manager, Kim Lundgreen said “Keyano College is actively responding to the growing operator demands of the oil sands industry.
