March 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Denver, CO – In observance of the upcoming International Women’s Day 2010, Denver-based Amélie Company Advertising & PR recognized a local women’s organization, Women’s Bean Project, with a $1,000 donation. Originating in the US almost a century ago, International Women's Day celebrates the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. Held annually on March 8, events are organized around the world to bring women and men together in support of women’s issues to recognize, honor and inspire generations of women.

Amélie Company employs several women who hail from culturally diverse international backgrounds. “In many countries, International Women’s Day is celebrated much like Mother’s Day is here in the US—women are feted with flowers and presents,” explains Amélie Company co-owner Robin Ashmore. “We were inspired to do something similar for the women in our personal and professional lives and to lend a helping hand to a local women’s association. Our agency overwhelmingly selected the Women’s Bean Project, an organization dedicated to helping at-risk women break the cycle of poverty and unemployment by training them in entry-level job skills.” Amélie’s donation will be allocated for job skills training including computer literacy and conflict management.

In addition to the support of the Women's Bean Project, Amélie Company is raising awareness of International Women’s Day through social media and viral grassroots efforts. Ashmore adds, “On Monday, the official International Women’s Day, our local clients will also be receiving a hand-delivered personal gift from us!”
