SALT LAKE CITY, Utah—“zerzle*
When asked to elaborate on the type of content zerzle* is looking for, Ovard explains, “The crude joke you heard in the hallway has no place on zerzle* but the story about your neighbor who fell off a ladder hanging Christmas lights and courageously went back to work in a wheelchair does. zerzle* has 32 categories ranging from Fitness, Food, and Fashion to Entertainment, News, and Personal Development. We’re asking people with blogging, writing and social networking interests to get on zerzle* and help us build a treasure trove of great content. For example, I’m interested in marine biology so I created an informative z-page with pictures and a video of a scary looking deep sea fish called the fangtooth. One of our zerzlers is a professional hornist and teacher. She shares links to free music tools.”
Ovard says marketing zerzle* as a values-based Web site will be a turn-off for some would-be zerzlers but he believes the need for content sharing venues with higher standards is too great to ignore. “I think zerzle’s values will ultimately help us attract better content. I don’t worry about skeptics. I’m too focused on making zerzle* the place people go to find and share content of the highest caliber — great imagery, useful and interesting text, engaging videos, things like that.”
