New College Durham has chosen Active Dashboards software from Dynistics to provide employees and students with real-time, accurate, highly visual information to measure success in key areas including student retention and achievement - at a time when funding is reducing in education and greater efficiencies are required.
Active Dashboards will retrieve information directly from the college’s existing disparate databases and allow blending of cross departmental information and better analysis of the college’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
“In the face of government funding cuts, it’s imperative that we can better view and understand metrics such as student retention and make faster and more accurate decisions based on the data within the college,” said Ian Walton, Deputy Chief Executive and Principal, New College Durham.
“Our individual systems have reasonable reporting tools at present – but by deploying Active Dashboards we can combine data from all areas of the college and present it in a broad range of highly visual graphical charts to better understand our successes and to highlight areas where we can improve.
“We chose to work with Dynistics because we found its software rich in functionality, very scalable, easy to integrate across our departments and with security features to control individual access so that confidential information cannot fall into the wrong hands.
“All in all Active Dashboards is excellent value for money, and we’re looking forward to rolling it out to around 200 users within the college – including management and curriculum/departmental heads, staff and students.”
With 4,000 full-time students and 700 permanent staff New College Durham is the largest provider of vocational and higher education in County Durham and in the top 10% of all colleges nationally for academic performance. Following a recent inspection the college was rated as “outstanding”
