ALAMOSA INSURANCE AGENTS INVITED TO WASHINGTON DC

The PIIAC (Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Colorado) has invited Chris Eddy and Chayito (Chay) Espinosa, from Dell’s Insurance Agency, Inc. in Alamosa, CO to attend the 2010 legislative conference and congressional visit in Washington DC. Chris & Chay will contribute to PIIAC’s efforts in Washington DC by using their political interest & knowledge, combined with their crop insurance expertise, to represent Colorado during meetings with legislators concerning crop insurance for farmers.

Crop insurance has come under fire in the Obama Administration and it is no exaggeration to say that farmers and their livelihood may be under greater threat than ever before because of it. On Thursday, March 4th Chris and Chay will march to Capitol Hill to present their viewpoints regarding why crop insurance is critical for farmers and consumers in Colorado to members of the House, Senate and their staffs as part of what has become one of the most effective insurance industry legislative events of its kind.

Chay said, “I am afraid that crop insurance is in jeopardy of being lost due to all the federal cuts that are being proposed. I will do my part to assist in making sure that Multi Peril crop insurance continues to be a valuable tool for our farmers.” She went on to say, “I feel that it is my duty to be the voice of the many farmers that we currently insure at Dell’s Insurance.” Dell’s Insurance Agency, Inc. has agents in Eastern Colorado, Western Colorado, Grand Junction and adjoining counties, as well as several agents in the San Luis Valley.

Chris Eddy has been instrumental on making sure that farmers’ interest are taken care of by sharing crop insurance knowledge with his agents throughout Colorado as well as being instrumental in developing AgCheck™ Agriculture Compliance Service, a Subsidiary of Dell’s Insurance Agency, Inc. The AgCheck™ Subsidiary was developed to provide expert help with the required GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) Compliance Audit recordkeeping for SLV farmers. AgCheck™ is the first service of its kind in the United States that is provided by a Crop Insurance Agency and was developed because of the frustration being felt by farmers in meeting the USDA recordkeeping requirements.

The AgCheck™ division has been busy in 2009 and in 2010 providing informational GAP seminars and field training for farmers. “Food safety and crop insurance go hand in hand”, said Chris Eddy, “And we want to be there to assist farmers in providing seamless services including representing them in Washington D.C. as an advocate at the PIIAC Legislative Conference.”

“Without Multi Peril crop insurance many farmers would not be able to get loans nor practice risk management for their farms.”, Chris said, “I hope that we can meet with Representative John Salazar in Washington because John is an advocate of Colorado farmers and meeting with him will reflect that crop insurance is the life blood for farmers in many farming situations.”

“This conference to discuss crop insurance with legislators in Washington D.C. is just another step in coming to the aid of farmers.” said Chris Eddy.

Chris Eddy holds a CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) designation has 32 years of crop insurance experience and manages the largest crop insurance agency in the Colorado together with Chayito Espinosa, who holds an AFIS (Agricultural Farm Insurance Specialists) designation and also has many years of crop insurance experience in both sales, management of the crop security compliance and crop insurance paper flow for Dell’s Insurance Agency, Inc.

Chris Eddy is a native of Moffat Colorado where his father farmed, drilled water wells and later became and advocate of water for farmers. Chayito is a native of Alamosa. Chris and Chay, along with Kimberly Fringer, Amanda Radford, and Aron Wright, who are members of their staff, may be contacted by phone 719-589-3606, Email mysavings@dellsinsurance.com, or online at www.dellsinsurance.com.
