Feb. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Imagine going about your day as usual with the mundane routines in our lives such as waking up in our bed, brushing our teeth, getting dressed, groomed, and eating breakfast.

Well for Fernando Bermudez like millions of others through out our country the scenario above is a daily ritual and one that many including; Fernando Bermudez took for granted until Fernando's nightmare began on a dreadful summer evening on August 6, 1991 and lasted until November 12, 2009 when in open court, New York State Supreme Court Justice John Cataldo dismissed the indictment against Fernando Bermudez a father of three, and scolded prosecutors for not acknowledging sooner that they'd nabbed the wrong man.

"I hope for you a much better future," Cataldo told Bermudez after issuing his 78-page ruling.  ( http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2009/11/12/2009-11-12_fernando_bermudez_.html )

Cataldo dismissed the case on several grounds: a cooperating witness lied in court, and witnesses were improperly allowed to confer about a mugshot of Bermudez before identifying him as the shooter. All have recanted.

"I find by clear and convincing evidence that the defendant has demonstrated his actual innocence," Cataldo said, refusing to order a new trial on the charges.

Fernando Bermudez like so many others who've been and continue to suffer under wrongful convictions is now a free man, but the loss of nearly 19 of Fernando's most productive years for a crime he did not commit and paid for so dearly in various New York State maximum security prisons can not go unheard, and this is why Fernando Bermudez has been keeping himself busy since his release in November of 2009 by speaking to various organizations about his long torturous, nearly two decade ordeal, in which Fernando and other supporters in his plight seek to passionately convey, so that others whom suffer from similar miscarriages of injustice can have hope, and a voice outside the prison walls just like Fernando Bermudez did.
