Follow on Google News | Local, Nora Brechtel, Returns From The Super BowlSpecial Olympics Louisiana and the National Football League Players Association of Louisiana congratulated, Gretna resident, Nora Brechtel on winning the 2010 NFL Experience Raffle back in December! Now she has returned...
By: Special Olympics Louisiana The Brechtel’s have since returned and like the rest of us are trying to come down from the rush and excitement of the New Orleans Saints first, making it to the Super Bowl and second, becoming World Champions. Nora now remarks, “Miami – The Superbowl – The Saints. I would have never believed it, but I was there. The city was awash in black and gold. From the “Who Dat” nation faithful reveling down Ocean Dr. to the Fleur-de-lis waving from bars and hotels; there was a feeling that the Saints’ time had come. The stadium was rocking with energy. However, as a long-suffering fan I’ve learned to never let my guard down. An inspired onsides kick, a classic Brees touchdown drive, a timeless instant replay reel Porter interception, and still I was holding my breath. But when the Saints’ “D” shut down Manning while running down the clock, it was like Mardi Gras in Miami!!!” Thousands of NFL raffle tickets were sold across Louisiana for $10 in fall of 2009. The fundraiser was a huge success for Special Olympics Louisiana and each year the raffle has taken place ticket sales have increased. Tickets for the 2011 Super Bowl will go on sale in fall of 2010 and we are confident they will sell like hot cakes in the hopes of the New Orleans Saints repeating another unbelievable season! # # # Special Olympics Louisiana (SOLA) is a statewide organization that changes lives by promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion between people with and without intellectual disabilities.
