Feb. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Feb 18, Ventura, CA - Best Day Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to helping children with special needs build confidence and self-esteem through adventure activities such as surfing, has announced a benefit on February 27th at the Elks Lodge Ball Room at 11 Ash Street in downtown Ventura so that more children can surf.

The evening of great surf movies (On a Rail: Europe, The Ripple Effect), the music of Jack Johnson En Concert (the movie), the music of Dr. Surf & Friends, tasty local food, beverages, and more starts at 5:30pm. The event also includes an awesome raffle and silent auction. Tickets are just $9.99 in advance or $12 at the door. All proceeds go directly towards helping the 100% volunteer-run non-profit serve more local children with special needs.

“You can make a difference just by coming to the event on the 27th,” says Chipper Bro Bell, Patagonia employee, owner of Surfclass surf school, and Best Day Ventura Chapter Co-Chair.  “We had a long waiting list last year and would love to expand in 2010 so more children get the chance to enjoy the beautiful coastal environment we live in. Generous sponsors, donors, and volunteers are what allow us to keep these beach events free for the kids.”

Beyond the screening of On A Rail: Europe, Tar productions is contributing a EURAIL.COM 15-Day “Global Pass” good for up to two months of travel throughout 21 countries in Europe on the famed Eurail Trains. The ticket is valued at over $1,080 USD and will be part of the silent auction. “Lucky bidders will get the opportunity to chart their very own trip through Europe, and possibly re-live the On A Rail: Europe experience like the surfers in the movie,” said Monte Crofts of Tar productions.

"And you can ride in style on a killer new board," says Best Day Co-Founder and Executive Director Max Montgomery referring to the auction’s Fletcher Chouinard Design Mako 6'8" surfboard signed for the event by the Malloy brothers. "Perhaps some of their incredible surfing skills will rub off on you too!"
