2010 World Car of the Year shortlist

Feb. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- The Audi Q5 compact SUV gets a nod, alongside the BMW X1 4x4, Mercedes-Benz E-Class exec saloon, Porsche Panamer luxury saloon and the new Volkswagen Polo supermini.

The Opel Ingsignia - sold in the UK as the Vauxhall Insignia - completes the German shut-out, though British interests will also lie with the Insignia
Volkswagen took the award in 2009 for sixth-generation Volkswagen Golf.
Japanese manufacturers also do well, with the third-generation Toyota Prius hybrid and Mazda3 hatch named in the shortlist.

The unorthodox Kia Soul,hailing from South Korea, and American-built  Chevrolet Cruze, from the General Motors stable, round off the list of shortlisted models.
The successful car will be announced at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010, alongside the 2010 World Performance Car, World Design Car and World Green Car.

The World Green Car is dominated by hybrids, including the Ford Fusion hybrid, Mercedes-Benz S400 hybrid, Honda Insight and Toyota Prius all competing with the low-emission Volkswagen Golf Bluemotion for the title currently held by the Honda FCX Clarity.

The 2010 World Performance Car will be chosen from the following list:
