Jan. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- The gaming market is currently flooded with many models of flash cards for Nintendo DS or DSi consoles.  The number of mainstream (sales in hundreds of thousands) flash cards currently is twelve, not including imitation or ‘clone’ cards.  Some types of cards have more functions than others, and the new M3i Zero card sets the standard high for DSi compatible cards in the future.  The creators of the M3i Zero were also the team that created the M3 Simply and M3DS Real cards, which were some of the most popular cards to ever exist for the regular DS or DS Lite console. The M3i Zero, however, will also work on the new Nintendo DSi console, including after the 1.4 firmware update.

When Nintendo released the 1.4 update for the DSi, all currently existing flash cards were blocked, and many users were left unable to use homebrew applications.  Quickly following the 1.4 release in August of 2009, teams developed workarounds for their cards such as the R4i SDHC.  While the workarounds have proven to be successful, there is currently no guarantee that further updates from Nintendo might not render flash cards completely nonfunctional.

The M3i Zero attempts to get around this problem by including a USB adapter cable with the package, to directly connect the card itself to a computer.  While a user would still use the included stylish Micro-SD to USB reader to add files onto the Micro-SD card, the USB connection cable allows the M3i Zero’s hardware to be re-flashed by any new kernel firmware from the M3i team.  This hopes to ensure future compatibility with any new Nintendo update.

Along with the crucial firmware flashing ability, the M3i Zero also features a custom GUI interface with built in media player. Compared to existing DSi cards, the interface is simpler and more intuitive to navigate. It also does not rely on separate media players such as Moonshell to play audio and video, unlike the DSTT and R4i SDHC.  Faster loading times, tighter integration with DSi consoles, and the support of a long standing team delivering high-quality DS flash cards set the M3i Zero above its DSi console rivals.  For earlier generation console users, the M3i Zero is also fully backwards compatible with older DS systems such as the Nintendo DS and Nintendo DS Lite.
