My vote is always for women of all heights to be healthy, fit and even curvy! Perfect examples of healthy, fit and curvy are famous petites 5′2″ Salma Hayek and 5′2″ Rachel Welch. As usual, exercising common sense and good judgement doesn’t seem to exist for some women. Obviously, we live in a world of extremes. Isn’t it time that we all learned being overweight or anorexic isn’t healthy or attractive for anyone?
WHO’S TO BLAME
Most fashion magazines promote fashion models to be stick thin. Most of us agree it is just not attractive to see a 5′9 amazon with zero proportions and rate them attractive by any measure. The clothing designer’s are directly at fault for this look. BellaPetite.com is taking on the discriminatory height industry standards.
WEIGHT EXTREMES
Watching America’s Next Top Model (ANTM) this season, I couldn’t believe my eyes that the models on the show were scary thin and were completely unattractive in swimsuits. By the last few episodes, the models literally looked like scarecrows! Their faces began to look drawn and overall many took on an unhealthy toothpick look, especially true with the winner 5′7″ Nicole. No curves, zero proportions (no breasts or hips), NO figure! Anorexic is not a look it's an eating disorder.
Then we have the other extreme in the weight spectrum, “fat” like Kirstie Alley, Rachel Hunter and Queen Latifiah. These women are beautiful but it seems they have resigned themselves to an unattractively weight class. I know many magazines, like GLAMOUR, have tried to promote size 12 plus women as being acceptable, but in reality it’s a cop out. The term “full-figured”
