Each of these items starts at a price well below what you would normally expect to pay at another online retailer such as Amazon.  With each bid that is used by the customer, the price drops by a certain amount and the bidder is given the chance to buy the item at its lowered price. If the bidder hesitates and does not purchase the item at the low price when they are given the opportunity, they risk another bidder undercutting their price and picking up the item for an even lower price.

If you are on one of these websites and find an item for a price you like, jump on it. The faster you claim the item as your own, the less likely it is that another customer will submit their bid and purchase the item before you.

These auction sites really are a great way to find new items for the home or to get great gifts without paying retail. In this day of online commerce and low prices, there is no longer any reason why a conscientious shopper should have to pay retail.
