Carbon Copy Pro Exemplifies the Spirit of Giving This Holiday Season

A heart warming story of how a community rallies to help one of its own this Christmas.

Dec. 26, 2009 - PRLog -- Jay Kubassek, co-founder and CEO of Carbon Copy Pro had received several emails from a woman who is a member that lives in Jamaica. He admitted that “I got a series of emails over the last few weeks from a woman in Jamaica that I quite frankly blew off. Then last week Lena (a leader in the community) emailed me on behalf of this woman as well, and not unlike most of the zillion emails I get every day from people asking for all kinds of things, I blew that off too.”

At 5:30a.m. on December 23rd, awake from being up all night with his newborn baby girl, he decided to clean out his inbox and came across yet another email from this lady.

The woman’s daughter was at a University in the United States and in her second year as a business major and a brilliant student. The problem was that the people who had been sponsoring the young woman had lost the bulk of their money due to the economy’s effect on their investments.

In order to keep their daughter in school, the young woman’s family would have to come up with the $18,000 to pay for tuition, which they did not have. Their daughter could not qualify for student loans in the U.S. because she is Jamaican.

Jay describes the message…”This one really stuck with me. I am not sure if it was the sincerity of the request, or just the pure guts of a mom to ask me pay for a semester of some kid’s college, not sure.”

A quote from one of the leaders in the Carbon Copy Pro community, John Jackson, which ends every training call he does stuck in Jay’s mind. The quote is “Do Something for Someone Today, With the KNOWING That There Is No Possible Way They Could Ever Repay You.”

With that in mind, Jay set out to get the message to the entire Carbon Copy Pro community.

“My heart and my gut are telling me that the right this to do here is to see if there is anyone else who feels the same way, and if led to, also contribute. It is Christmas and I can’t think of anything that would be more in the spirit of giving than to pass the hat and make sure Jessica is enrolled in classes come the first week of January.” said Jay of this decision.

Within 24 hours 78 people had contributed and the $18,384.26 needed to pay the young woman’s tuition was raised and paid in full.

Here is the grateful student’s response:
“WOW! This is amazing I can’t believe that you just raised all the money for me in just one day! I am truly blessed and I feel honoured that you all took out of your own pockets at this crazy time of the year to give to someone you don’t even know. Thank you all so much, I am grateful down to the last dollar given. I pray that each one of your donations to me will return to you one hundred fold, and that you will receive your own blessings when you ever happen to be in a need of any kind. Thank you all so very much, and have an amazing holiday season!”
