Dec. 22, 2009 - PRLog -- Don Patry, Chairman of the Board of Directors, for the Community Foundation of Greater Butler County, is pleased to announce the release of their Annual Report.

In light of the erratic economic conditions over the past year and the downward trend in investment earnings, which of course has been experienced worldwide, the Foundation will look back on this experience for its lessons on stewardship of donor gifts. “We hold our accountability and responsibility to our donors and to our community to the highest level” said Don Patry. Our Annual Report is a way we can recognize the generosity of our donors and demonstrate the achievements of giving that occurred because of them. We extend heartfelt thanks to our donors, for it is because of them, we achieve our mission.

Managing over one million in donor funds, the Community Foundation is dedicated to its service to donors. At the close of Fiscal Year 2008, grants totaling more than $34,000 were distributed to various charitable organizations, groups and causes. The leaders at the Community Foundation are optimistic for the future. As their asset base continues to grow, their ability to support and provide grants to the needs within the community will expand.

As part of a state and national system of philanthropy, the Community Foundation is much more than a manager of donor funds. Angie Baur, CEO, shared ,“we have four key roles that contribute value as a community partner”, 1) Endowment Builder, 2) Grant Maker, 3) Community Convener and 4) Philanthropy Advocate. Given the challenges of our economy, Baur further shared that the Community Foundation has a responsibility to understanding the on-going needs of our community.

As the Annual Report shows, the Foundation has a broad interest in supporting needs within the community. Grants ranged from support for Animal Welfare, Arts & Culture, Health and Human Services, Community Preservation and Higher Education. Each area connects to donors areas of interest. “While we are excited and positioned to support all these charitable areas of interest, I would be remiss for not pointing out that our non-profit service providers are in greater demand. Persons who have never before had to seek support from food pantries need to do so. And unemployment is creating many lifestyle changes for family’s right in our own neighborhoods.” Baur went on to encourage each of us to consider the good fortune that does surround us. Those who are in a position to assist are encouraged to contact the Community Foundation to explore ways their gifts can be maximized.
