Celestix Networks has been awarded four stars for their HOTPin solution by Microsoft ISA expert, Dr. Thomas Shinder. “HOTPin is the hands-down winner in the TCO department.”
Celestix HOTPin was launched in April 2009 and it is the first Two-Factor Authentication system to be fully integrated with Microsoft IAG 2007 SSL VPN on a single appliance. HOTPin is deployed exclusively on the Celestix WSA appliance, which is the world’s best selling IAG appliance. Microsoft IAG 2007 is an integrated edge security gateway that helps protect the network from internet-based threats while providing users fast remote access through SSL VPN.
Dr Shinder was impressed with Celestix Networks for making two-factor authentication affordable for small and medium size organisations. Owners of a WSA appliance are entitled to five free licenses out of the box, with additional licenses costing from £10 per user, per year, and 2010 will also see HOTPin available on the Microsoft ISA Appliances from Celestix.
When installing Two-Factor Authentication there is usually conflict between the hardware, security platform and the two-factor solution; however Celestix provide all three to prevent issues from occurring. Thomas was also amazed by the trouble-free installation of HOTPin, with the server configuration done through the WSA management console while the rest of the set up is very straightforward. For end-users it’s equally as easy; HOTPin does not require any kind of hardware tokens, keyfobs or smart cards. End-users receive the one-time password through their mobile phone as either an SMS or soft token or they can retrieve the password by installing Win32 application on their PC.
In conclusions of the review Thomas states “The addition of HOTPin to the WSA appliance offering makes the WSA the most attractive IAG 2007 based SLL VPN gateway product on the market today. I have always recommended WSA SSL VPN appliances, and the addition of HOTPin makes that recommendation even stronger”.
Tim Ager, Celestix General Manager for Europe said “It’s always great when an independent specialist confirms the value in our products. The development of HOTPin is an indication of our strong and clear commitment to the Microsoft security market and our vision remains to add innovative and functional solutions as an enhancement to both IAG & ISA server”.
