Dec. 1, 2009 - PRLog -- The historic Thayer Hotel, located on the grounds of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, is inviting New Year’s Eve revelers to welcome in 2010 in style on Thursday, December 31st.

Guests can enjoy an elegant cocktail reception from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, followed by a candlelight dinner served from 8:30 pm to 12:30 am, with continuous dancing and live music.  New Year’s Eve festivities also include party favors, a champagne toast at midnight, deluxe overnight accommodations, breakfast buffet and late checkout – all for just $550 per couple, including taxes and gratuities.  Cocktail reception, dinner and dancing package is only $325 per couple, taxes and gratuities included.

The Thayer’s lavish cocktail party includes a fresh seafood bar, pasta station, flambé duck station, blackened beef canapés, quiche Lorraine, and brie.

The full sit-down dinner menu begins with vine-ripe tomatoes with fresh mozzarella and pesto oil, wild mushroom and chicken volauvent, or petit marmite, followed by baby field greens with marinated mushrooms and champagne vinaigrette.  For entrees, choose between roasted sliced tenderloin of beef with truffle bordelaise sauce, baked crabmeat stuffed shrimp, or chicken cordon bleu.   Entrees are served with fresh asparagus and au gratin potatoes.

Built in 1926, the Thayer Hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the one of the only full-service hotels on the Hudson River from the George Washington Bridge to Albany, New York.  Originally constructed to accommodate U.S. Military Academy personnel and their guests, the Thayer Hotel was a successor of the original West Point Hotel.  The Hotel is named for Colonel Sylvanus Thayer, Superintendent of the Academy from 1817 to 1833.
