Nov. 19, 2009 - PRLog -- “At Academy of St. Joseph, our motto is Character, Competence, Compassion,” says Ms. Angela Coombs, Academy of St. Joseph’s Head of School. “Even our youngest students learn the importance of showing compassion by taking part in AOSJ’s many charity events,” says Coombs.

2nd Annual Bowery Mission Charity Drive on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 11:30 a.m.:
This Thanksgiving, school families have collected clothing, outerwear, exercise equipment, toiletries, books and small electronics for The Bowery Mission, which ministers to homeless men, women, and children. On November 23,  students will personally present their donations when officials from Bowery Mission visit Academy of St. Joseph.

Thankful Gathering on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 11:30 a.m.:
The community at Academy of St. Joseph prides itself on being a family. Before we separate to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with friends and relatives, we gather together to give thanks for each other and enjoy a Thanksgiving-style feast, provided by the families of AOSJ.

Neighborhood Caroling, December 7 through December 19, 2009:
Many New York City children never experience the joys of Christmas caroling. On various days throughout early December, AOSJ students will visit nearby preschools, nursery schools and daycare centers to serenade the young students and their teachers.

2nd Annual Holiday Chorus on Thursday, December 17 at 7:00 p.m.:
What has become a joyful tradition at AOSJ begins with song, poems and dramatic presentations from each of the school’s grades. Attendees then enjoy a rousing, joyful Christmas sing-along, social time and refreshments.

We welcome you to join us as we celebrate our blessings and remember the holidays. “Let us remember how good life is and how fortunate we are to experience its blessings,” says Coombs.
