Nov 07, 2009 – Cary's Catering by Design was selected as the caterer for this major event by the Fuquay-Varina Junior Woman’s Club, chosen from a group of six different caterers.
Chef Greg Lewis said, "We were excited to have been part of this historic event; it’s not every day that one gets to be part of a Centennial Celebration!”
He acknowledged that it was challenging because the old warehouse didn’t have running water for the caterers to use. The Fuquay Varina Independent’s Shirley Hayes wrote about the community work involved in readying the warehouse for the Gala affair.
Catering by Design’s menu included a rich assortment of Hors d'Oeuvres; a fresh salad of baby greens, pine nut, goat cheese and strawberries with citrus and champagne vinaigrette; a dual entree of Grilled Filet Mignon with Port Wine Demi-Gloss and Pan-Seared Breast of Chicken with tomato caper chutney; green beans and roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Even with the guests numbering in the hundreds, over 600 attended, Catering by Design was able to accommodate special requests for vegetarians and others with dietary restrictions.
