On the heels of renewed airplay in western Canada of some of his earlier works, British Columbia-based songwriter and composer Michael Dekkers heads to Music City, USA this week to record five recently penned tunes. He has secured the talents of veteran Nashville producer Kim Copeland and a collection of A-list studio musicians to record demo versions of songs he hopes will help propel his career to the next level.
Dekkers has had several of his tunes recorded by artists in western Canada but is hoping to secure a deal with a major Nashville publisher. He states, "when it comes to Country songwriting without question the brass ring for me is becoming a staff writer on Music Row. To be able to make any kind of income from songwriting is very gratifying". He hopes this trip will be the first of many succesful journeys to the center of the country music universe.
