New online retailer Contemporary Home International (www.contemporary-home.co.uk), which sells a wide range of premium European furniture at competitive prices, has opened a new office to cater for the growing number of orders from the US market for its furniture.
                                                               
To overcome the challenges presented by working in different time zones, Contemporary Home International has set up an office in Salvador, Brazil.

The office is headed up by Leif Haug, an experienced furniture consultant, who manages a team of staff who deal with the growing number of orders and enquiries from US customers keen to inject a bit of European designer style into their houses.

The online retailer has only been trading for a year, and despite the tough economic conditions, is seeing an encouraging increase in sales. The website features products from more than 50 design-led brands, with a particular focus on Italian names such as B&B Italia, Ceccotti, Poliform, and Flexform. Furniture from iconic designers including Philippe Starck, Antonio Citterio and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is also available from Contemporary Home International.  

The company has access to more than 100 brands through its unrivalled network of suppliers in Europe and can offer a personalized service, sourcing and shipping items to the customer’s exact specification.

The owners of the business, Gabriel Homer and Francesca Bianchi, have a network of suppliers in Italy, which is the key to the business’s success.

Gabriel says: “We specialize in finding the exact piece of furniture that a customer wants, even if it’s not on our site, and we can get it shipped straight to their house.  We can also usually offer a significant cost saving on UK or US prices. Typically we can offer an item for 30% lower than usual UK prices, but this can be as much as 40% or 50% lower. This is all because of our unique relationships with the key suppliers in Italy.  

“A good price example of what we can obtain from our suppliers is the Cattelan Alaska chair,” says Gabriel. “This item would normally retail in the UK at £2,275, but we can offer it for £1,580, representing a saving of 30%.  Another example is the Philippe Starck Caadre mirror which retails at £2,345 but we are selling for £1,435, a saving of nearly 40%.”
