Oct. 16, 2009 - PRLog -- Washington, DC - On the morning of Monday, October 19th, 2009, the Florida Whig Party will officially announce two new 2010 candidates for Congress in Florida's 3rd and 20thCongressional Districts. The Florida Whig Party is affiliated with the national Modern Whig Party, a mainstream national political movement initially revived by post-9/11 veterans and now populated by voters of all political stripes.

The announcement will be made on the state party website at www.FloridaWhig.com and will be the 2nd and 3rd federal candidates to run on the recently revived Whig Party. Paul C. McKain, who is running against incumbent Democrat Allen Boyd, announced in May of 2009 for Florida's 2nd Congressional District and is the first federal Whig candidate since the 1850's. About the Whig Party:

Established in 1833, the Whigs are one of America's oldest mainstream political parties. They were the original party of Abraham Lincoln and four other U.S. Presidents.

Revived by Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, the grassroots movement has quickly attracted tens of thousands of members. They represent moderate voters from all walks of life that cherry-pick between traditional Democratic and Republican ideals in what has been called the Modern Whig Philosophy.

This Washington, DC-based national movement values common sense, rational solutions ahead of ideology and partisan bickering. This includes general principles of fiscal responsibility, strong national defense and educational/scientific advancement.

Florida is the first state in the nation to achieve ballot access for Whig candidates. To date, members and leaders of the national Modern Whig movement have been invited to play a role in GOP and Democratic initiatives while pushing their own common sense, non-fringe agenda of what some have called the fastest growing mainstream political party in the nation.

About Candidate Paul C. McKain:

McKain worked his way through college to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida International University where he majored in Education and minored in Physical Sciences. Upon graduation, he taught for 3 ½ years then applied for and was selected to join Sunrise Florida Fire and Rescue Department where he worked for 23 years until his retirement in 2003. While off duty, McKain built and developed several businesses from the ground up, most recently working on a global scale culminating with the passage of legislation through the US Congress. Mr. McKain's campaign slogan reads "Restoring True citizen participation in government." Learn more about Paul McKain:www.PaulMcKain.com.
