Follow on Google News | UK Band ‘Council Estate Super Models’ Direct Attention At ‘Real Models’ Trend.Up and coming ‘retro-meets-indie’ UK pop band ‘Council Estate Supermodels’ have cleverly summed up the recent trend involving ‘real models’ and celebrities from everyday backgrounds receiving more media attention.
By: Suzy O'Connor Band members Jules Dent and Sam Woodford, both from the Isle Of Wight, were broke when they met as students at Chichester University whilst studying for their music degrees, but they have since gone from strength to strength with TV and radio appearances and music reviews in publications such as DJmag celebrating their talents. The likeable pair have also received support from music critics such as Pete Tong, who has tipped them as an act to watch. “We could be looking at future stars” he commented, directly following their ‘bedroom bedlam’ competition win on Pete Tong TV. It is possible that the Council Estate Supermodels could represent their name more literally in future, as they are now rumoured to have been approached about designing and modelling a new clothing line, directly after images from their most recent shoot were seen by an interested party. Despite this offer, previous comical and quirky images, which have been chosen to appear on their myspace page – http://www.myspace.com/ CESM would not be the first supermodels to have been discovered from humble beginnings. The beautiful Jordan Dunn was discovered in Primark aged 16, and super-cool Agyness Deyn worked in a chip shop before becoming the incredibly successful model she is today. In interview’s Agyness Deyn always appears endearingly unaffected: “People always say when they meet me, 'I didn't know you were common! ”It's funny, because I always think, like - I pretend to be a model. I know that sounds really weird.” The Council Estate Supermodels are equally modest, and regardless of their increasing popularity and the buzz around latest release ‘Jitterbug’ “Your experiences in life make you who you are and we’re very comfortable and happy with who we are and where we’ve come from,” says a grounded Jules.“For me coming from a council estate has had a lot of advantages and it has given me the ambition and drive to make a statement in a tough business.” All in all the Council Estate Supermodels seems to be great ambassadors for the Isle Of Wight and look set for some well-deserved success representing those more talented ‘real’ stars who are catapulted into the limelight. Sam had something to say that sums up quite nicely.“Keep it council!” (Image courtesy of - www.contrast.tv) # # # About Models Direct (http://www.modelsdirect.com/ Models Direct is a talent and model agency for female models, male models, teen models, child models and baby models for advertising, fashion, film, TV, promotional and photographic modelling work.
