FT. WORTH, TX - The 19th Annual Big Band Hangar Dance & Silent Auction Commemorating the 95th Bomb Group will be held at the Vintage Flying Museum, October 10, 2009. This event is the major fund raiser for the museum, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 corporation.
Enjoy the big band sounds of the Alan Glasscock 16- piece orchestra and a nostalgic evening of swing dancing in front of the B-17 Flying Fortress on display in an authentic WWII B-29 hangar. Dressing in 40’s attire or as your favorite aviator is optional but prizes will be awarded for the best dressed.
Attendees will be able to visit with the event's special guests, WWII veterans from the 95th Bomb Group reunion, and have the opportunity to meet Glenn McDuffie, the Kissing Sailor, the only forensically verified sailor of the now famous picture of the sailor and a nurse kissing in Times Square on V-J day.
Dinner will be served from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., with dancing from 8 – midnight. The event is BYOB with soft drinks and snacks available for purchase. Advance dinner and dance tickets are $45. Dance only tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door. Reserve tables are available with the purchase of ten tickets. Corporate tables are also available.
For an additional $35 individuals may also make plans to take a nostalgic DC-3 flight over the city of Ft.
