Sept. 14, 2009 - PRLog -- Exclusive, invitation-only, bipartisan social network for political professionals steps up its game, bringing aboard experienced politicos for the launch of a new platform to support its rapidly growing membership this fall

Washington, D.C. – Amir Oveissi, founder of DistrictFile, the premier social networking website connecting people in politics, announced today the appointment of Jason Roe and Peter Mirijanian to its Board of Directors.

Mr. Roe who launched Federal Strategy Group, a government affairs firm with 17 offices in 11 states, and recently founded Revolvis Consulting, a campaign consulting firm, will join DistrictFile as Chief Operating Officer.

Roe brings nearly 20 years of experience on campaigns and public policy at the federal, state and local levels.  He has served as chief of staff to Congressman Tom Feeney (FL), campaign manager for Congressmen Peter Roskam (IL) and James Rogan (CA), and as deputy campaign manager of Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign.  He has also been active in international politics and democracy building, advising and overseeing elections in Liberia, Iraq, Nigeria and Bulgaria.

Mr. Roe has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Campaigns and Elections Magazine and named to The Hill newspaper’s list of the “35 Under 35” most effective staffers on Capitol Hill.

“I have worked closely with Jason and his list of accomplishments speaks for itself. He has proven time and again throughout his career that he has the necessary leadership and vision to be successful in many different roles – whether it’s as a campaign manager, chief of staff or an executive, said Congressman Peter Roskam.  “I am confident that he will make a great addition to the DistrictFile team.”

Mr. Mirijanian joins DistrictFile as a Senior Advisor and communications consultant. He is a veteran of four Democratic presidential campaigns and is the founder of Peter Mirijanian Public Relations, whose client list includes Verizon Wireless, PhRMA and Overstock.com.

Mirijanian’s communications experience spans more than two decades, beginning his career as a press aide in the office of Senator Edward M. Kennedy in 1984.  Prior to starting his firm, he served as Vice President of the DCS Group, was a senior counselor at Powell Tate and led non-profit media campaigns at Fenton Communications.

Peter is a regular Democratic strategist and crisis communications commentator in national publications, for NBC's Today Show, MSNBC (including Hardball with Chris Matthews), and The FOX News Channel.

“I am eager to work with Jason and Peter and excited about the months ahead. They have both been on the ground floor of successful ventures and will bring valuable experience with them,” said Oveissi.

“DistrictFile’s membership spans the globe and is not limited to any one political party, so it was important for us to recognize that fact and strike the right balance on our leadership team – I think we have achieved that.”

The announcement was made at the conclusion of a full week of Gov 2.0 conferences, bringing together policy and decision-makers from all levels of government, information technology industry and non-profits, as leaders inside and outside government are turning to the principles of participation, collaboration, transparency, and efficiency to address the challenges facing our country and the world.

Districtfile sponsored CongressCamp, a two day social media conference, and participated in the three day Gov 2.0 Summit held by O’Reilly Media in Washington, D.C this past week.

“I can’t think of a better opportunity to announce Peter and Jason than at the conclusion of conferences discussing the very communications challenges DistrictFile was designed to meet,” said DistrictFile managing director Matt Michaelree.
