Sea Kayaking & Sea Turtles Expedition to Benefit Hurrican Jimena Rebuilding Efforts

Sept. 12, 2009 - PRLog -- San Diego CA, Baja Expeditions the region’s leading adventure travel operator, is proud to announce that the Sea Kayaking & Sea Turtles Expedition will generate donations to help communities rebuild after Hurricane Jimena. This group tour, which runs from Nov. 3 – 10, 2009, features camping on remote islands in the Sea of Cortez and Magdalena Bay as well as participation in sea turtle research led by local members of the Grupo Tortuguero, an award-winning conservation organization.

The Grupo Tortuguero works with small coastal communities around the peninsula, many of which were hit hard by the recent hurricane.  The cost of the trip includes a donation to help dedicated conservationists rebuild their homes.  This trip will be in partnership with SEE Turtles (http://www.seeturtles.org), a sea turtle conservation organization and will be led by Dr. Wallace J. Nichols, one of the world’s leading sea turtle conservationists who has spent two decades protecting Baja’s wildlife.

Highlights of the Sea Kayaking & Sea Turtles Expedition include:
Hands-on participation in community-based scientific monitoring of sea turtles;
Camping on idyllic islands in the beautiful Sea of Cortez and Magdalena Bay;
Visiting sea lion and sea bird rookeries; and
Kayaking pristine waters.

Cost: $1,795 double occupancy, includes guides, activities, lodging, most meals, in-country transportation, and a donation to rebuilding efforts.  Airfare not included.
