Wood Dale, IL– The Phoenix Company of Chicago has started a recycling program at its facility. Recycling has become increasingly paramount in workplaces as the world grows more concerned and aware of environmental issues. Comprised of employee volunteers, The Green Team enthusiastically motivates and supplies its coworkers with tools for understanding the importance of recycling, reducing, and reusing. Approaching recycling as a team effort helps ensure the success of The Phoenix Company’s recycling program. Green Team chairperson, Carol Nolan says, “We have implemented ongoing projects with cost reductions in mind, as well as, energy conservation. We will continue to look for ways to conserve energy and dollars in the workplace. Our natural resources are not unlimited; all of us must do our part to conserve what we have, so it is there for all generations to come.” A few of the team’s recent accomplishments are as follows:
•Adding multiple recycling bins throughout the buildings.
•Setting printers to default to double-sided printing and using recycled toner cartridges.
•Reducing print junk mail by removing employee names from mailing lists.
•Shutting off computers at night to lower energy costs.
•Distributing reusable canvas tote bags for employees to bring in their lunches and belongings.
•Using “green” cleaning products throughout the office.
•Sending out weekly e-tips and monthly e-newsletters to educate and encourage employees to recycle at work and at home.
