Auto Body Repair Specialist in Redondo Beach Warns Consumers about Working with Insurance Companies

Things your auto body shop and your car insurance companies don’t want you to know

Learn What your Insurance Company and Auto Body Shop Don't Tell You!

Los Angeles, CA -- Auto insurance companies often contract with auto body shops for a pre-negotiated rate for repairs.  Some practices include requiring low hourly labor rates or forcing the body shop to pay for a rental car if they do not complete repairs timely.  These practices often tempt the auto body shop to cut corners, using lower quality materials or neglecting to complete certain steps required for proper repair.

Joaquin Hernandez owns Collision on Wheels, a mobile auto body shop in the Los Angeles area.  Collision on Wheels offers the convenience of coming to the customer to perform minor auto collision repairs to save them the hassle of taking their vehicle to a body shop.  “We typically complete repairs in one day or less and our fee is often less than an insurance deductible,” said Hernandez.

In the event that repairs are extensive, Collision on Wheels work is accepted by most auto insurance companies.  During a recent interview, Joaquin discussed how insurance companies work.  “Some insurance companies prefer auto body shops that use generic or salvage replacement parts to save money.  Sometimes, this is acceptable; however, in some cases, original equipment manufacturer parts are safer.  If you are in an accident that is your fault, there could be wording in your insurance policy that requires you to use lower quality parts or pay the difference.  If you are not at fault make sure you tell the auto body shop to use only original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts.”

Joaquin also advised, “Many foreign made cars require special equipment and a high degree of precision to perform repairs properly.  If you drive a foreign car make sure the shop you choose is certified by the manufacturer to do the work.  Your insurance company will not be likely to recommend these shops because they charge higher rates; however, they should be willing to pay to repair your vehicle to its original condition.”

Collision on Wheels repairs rather than replacing parts when possible to save the consumer money and to reduce the amount of waste in landfills.  Consumers appreciate the time and money they save on auto dent repair, scratch repair and auto painting.  Joaquin serves consumers and business owners in Los Angeles, Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach and neighboring cities and communities.  Visit http://www.collisiononwheels.com to learn more.
