Aug. 19, 2009 - PRLog -- Dealing with a panic attack:

Steps 1 When you first begin to feel the anxiety or panic mounting, close your eyes.

Step 2 Become aware of how fast and/or shallow you might be breathing and slow it down, breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Step 3 example of In your mind, picture your "peaceful place". Although your thoughts may stray, consciously bring them back to that place.

Step 4 Begin to say your mantra slowly to yourself (ie..calm,serene,safe) , either out loud softly or in your mind. Repeat it over and over as you continue to breath in through your nose and out through your mouth, picturing your "peaceful place".

Step 5 Because your feelings are a direct result of your thoughts, you will begin to feel your heart rate slow and the anxiety subside. When this happens slowly bring yourself back to your current surroundings and open your eyes.

Step 6 If the anxiety begins to return start the steps over again.
