July 6, 2009 - PRLog -- Carroll Warfield, Managing Director of Thayer Lodging Group announced the appointment of Michael McMahon, CRDE, to the position of General Manager at the newly renovated, 279-room DoubleTree Hotel & Executive Meeting Center in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Mr. Warfield stated that McMahon is ideally suited for the position and for the property, based on his “strong proven track record and his solid aptitude for developing and implementing new and innovative policies and procedures that will successfully drive the newly renovated DoubleTree Palm Beach Gardens.”
In May 2008, ground was broken to develop a unique Hotel and Executive Meeting Center that would ultimately be LEED certified by the US Green Building Council, PURE™ designated to feature a pure air environment, and approved by the International Association of Conference Centers (IACC). All of these accreditations were achieved when the extensive renovation project was completed.   McMahon will work to introduce a finely tuned culinary program, strengthen the emphasis on the productive meeting environment, maintain and advance the commitment to environmental sustainability.
McMahon stated, “I am extremely excited to be a part of the LEED-certified, cutting- edge Executive Meeting Center, that is approved by IACC; the first of its kind in the world.”
The $26 million renovation and development project included developing modern functionality within a shell that is complementary to the adjacent hotel.  The development introduced 15,500 square feet of technologically advanced, purpose-designed meeting space, teleconference rooms, pre-function areas, and an outdoor plaza.  The flexible space is ideal for large assemblies and smaller meetings with designated areas for personal communications and networking.
McMahon recently served as General Manager of the DoubleTree Hotel and Executive Meeting Center in Bethesda, MD where he successfully managed Thayer’s multi-million-dollar renovation and converted the property to the DoubleTree flag.  Throughout his four-year tenure at the 269-room property, he also implemented and marketed the new executive meeting center to conform with the standards of the International Association of Conference Centers, introduced innovative food & beverage operations, and introduced the property as the only PURE™ Executive Meeting Center in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

A 25-year veteran of the hospitality industry, McMahon previously served as General Manager at the Lakeway Resort in Austin, TX where he successfully transformed the property to a thriving lakefront resort and reorganized and developed a new management team.  He has also served as General Manager at Hamilton Park Hotel & Executive Conference Center in Florham Park, NJ and at the American Airlines Training & Conference Center in Ft. Worth, TX.
According to Mr. Warfield,  “Michael has had tremendous success transforming and upgrading properties with an emphasis on introducing unique food and beverage operations, reorganizing sales and marketing  efforts, and developing and implementing conference center operations.  We are confident that Michael will bring the same innovation and success to the new DoubleTree Palm Beach Gardens.”

Located in West Palm Beach Gardens, FL approximately 15 minutes away from PB International Airport the DoubleTree Hotel and Executive Meeting Center at Palm Beach Gardens sits adjacent to Interstate-95.  It also enjoys a convenient location near restaurants, shopping, banks, beaches, golf, mass-transit, and other attractions nearby. Shuttle service serves a two-mile radius for guests.

The DoubleTree Palm Beach Gardens was purchased in 2006 and renovated by Thayer Lodging Group in 2008. The hotel includes 279 guest-rooms, a restaurant, meeting rooms, and a new state of the art Executive Meeting Center (EMC) premiered in early 2009. Following guidelines established by the International Association of Conference Centers (IACC), the Executive Meeting Center includes PURE improved air quality in a superior meeting environment that exceeds the universal criteria guidelines established by IACC.
