July 2, 2009 - PRLog -- With one of the lengthiest production periods ever the Science Fiction Feature entitled ‘Saga of a Crew’ limps across the finish line to a DVD premier 26 years after filming initially began. Production began in 1982 and by October 1983 Producer - Director Daniel R. Christopher, with special permit obtained from a Government Agency commenced location filming of the survival adventure tale along the Massachusetts coastline employing 3 main characters and a full scale spacecraft prop. Light aircraft buzzed the spot frequently, apparently curious about the unidentifiable advanced craft adrift in the dunes.
Interior scenes were filmed at real life locations disguised as futuristic sets such as an actual sewage pump station used as an engine room or an old National Guard facility used as a spaceship hanger. After rough editing the project was halted due to budget restraints and the footage placed into storage.
Fast forward to 2004. Lebanon, Maine based Daniel R. Christopher Productions decides to resurrect the project. Sighting his b-movie DVD collection, according to Christopher “if such cheesy material can sell perhaps Saga of a Crew might entertain”. During the next 3 years new material was produced to replace missing plot elements even using original costumes and effects models retained from the 80s shoot. New sequences had to resemble the style of the older footage. Christopher, with no computer knowledge set about learning new technologies and performed remastering of the old 80s Film footage which by now was showing some effects due to wear and age. "The time was right to preserve this footage, the only print in existance, with computer technology before it deteriorates" according to Christopher, whom is quick to credit friend from the UK Andrew Massey for his valued assistance with quirky computer programs in the early stages.
After 2 years in post production  Saga of a Crew, now available on DVD at the Film's Official Website, is a true time capsule hybrid featuring never before released 1980s footage, offering die hard classic Science Fiction fans a rare glimpse at material fresh from the vault that was nearly lost for all time. Shall Saga of a Crew be destined to become a b-movie cult classic? Ultimately it shall be up to those fans of classic Science Fiction to judge if  Saga of a Crew’s lengthy delivery was all worth it.
