Aegis Asia Singapore Introduces H1N1 Outbreak Contingency Plans

With the recent steady rise of H1N1 cases in Singapore, many organizations are seeking means to protect themselves, enhance their defenses and upgrade the preventive mechanisms in their indoor environment.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Jul 02, 2009 – Singapore Ministry of Health has confirmed a total of 783 cases of Influenza A(H1N1-2009) virus.  Fortunately, for most cases, the Influenza H1N1 is not life-threatening.  Yet, it is still a threat to society’s productivity and efficiency.

With the recent steady rise of H1N1 cases in Singapore, many organizations are seeking means to protect themselves, enhance their defenses and upgrade the preventive mechanisms in their indoor environment.  Organizations acknowledge that the need for a long-term barrier protection as a defensive strategy against the spread of the H1N1 virus is more important than ever.

AEGIS ASIA recognizes that the best measure to take at this point of the outbreak is a “forward defense”, followed by thorough contamination and mitigation methods.

Thus, AEGIS ASIA introduces multifold benefit programs and products that are proven decontamination solutions.  AEGIS ASIA’s three forward defense mechanisms against Influenza H1N1 are:

Forward Defense Action 1:  Ox Bio+ Biocide

Results of independent research tests conducted by the Malaysian and Thai Government showed that Ox Bio* biocides are effective against pathogenic H5N1 virus.

The tests confirm that Ox Bio+ completely inactivates the H5N1 virus with a concentrated dilution of as low as 0.5%.  The test was done with a ten minute exposure time under laboratory test conditions based on method of Office International des Epizooties (OIE).  It has been demonstrated to be up to a hundred times more effective than sodium hypochlorite.

What are Ox Bio+’s benefits?

• Highly sporicidal
• Kills micro-organisms with extremely short contact time
• Non-toxic in itself and in its residual by-products
• Environmentally-friendly
• Reverts over time to original state – weak saline solution
• ‘Food-safe’
• Can be applied as a foam, mist, ice or liquid solution to treat air, surfaces or liquids
• Does not bleach surfaces or materials and virtually odorless
• No synthetic chemical residue
• It prevents and removes otherwise stubborn biofilm
• It is extremely effective against Legionella
• It does not form toxic chloramines
• It does not form toxic trihalomethanes
• It precipitates iron and manganese

Forward Defense Action 2:  Dry Fog HP Vapour System

Dry Fog HP Vapour System is an eco-friendly alternative to formaldehyde diffusion.  The Dry Fog HP Vapour System produces a fog of ultrafine droplets of precisely 7.5 microns diameter.  It is highly biodegradable and is less corrosive than formaldehyde-based liquid.  As a disinfectant, it is very effective and safe.

Forward Defense Action 3:  AEGIS Microbe Shield Long Term Surface Protection

AEGIS antimicrobial is based on the active molecule quaternary ammonium, a highly effective and proven broad spectrum microbiocide molecule.  AEGIS Antimicrobial is not merely affixed to the treated surface.  It is chemically bonded to the treated surface, making it a permanent part of that area and allowing it to have long-term protection by inhabiting the growth of pathogenic microorganisms in your indoor environment.

As it does not contain arsenic, heavy metals or polychlorinated phenols, the AEGIS Microbe Shield Technology is safe for people and for the environment.  Furthermore, AEGIS:

•   Is a sharp contrast against the conventional biocides since it is not poisonous;
•   Reduces the need of toxic chemicals because microbial pollutants are under control;
•   Is non-leaching.  It is bonded to a treated surface and does not leach or create an environment that is conducive for microorganisms’ growth; and
•   Is anti viral and anti-microbial.
