This week, the Aegis Trust proposes strengthening the law on prosecuting suspects who are present in the UK. A Ministry of Justice spokesman said tackling crimes of genocide requires international co-operation.
Suspects include a lieutenant colonel from the Soviet-era Afghan government's secret police, Khad, and an alleged Tamil Tiger assassination hit squad driver.
War crimes, which include genocide or the mistreatment of prisoners of war, are unlawful acts committed during a war and considered in violation of the conventions of warfare. It is over a one hundred and forty years since the first Geneva Convention on wounded soldiers during war and yet today war crimes are still being practised.
“The aim of War Crimes TV is to facilitate the spreading of awareness of gross violations of human rights and allow people to report on them independently”
The War Crimes TV site allows users to upload appropriate videos and to start related forums and blogs. By developing an independent community against war crimes the site will expose war crimes using the power of the Internet.
