By: Teresa Dentino CDFA, CEO/Founder, TheFinancial 411 “Learning about money savvy is loaded with sub-layers of social and psychological dynamics. Unfortunately, there are still vestiges of the myth that women can‘t do Math. Through 25 years of direct experience, I’ve seen first-hand that it doesn’t have to be this way,” notes the book’s author, Teresa Dentino, CEO and Founder of The Financial 411. On May 21st, 2009 at the NYAXE Gallery in Palo Alto, CA, Ms. Dentino will launch the 1st book in her series, Women Get Financially Fit: What Your Mother Never Taught You About Money. As a new stockbroker 25 years ago, Ms. Dentino quickly concluded that her female clients were underserved by the investment community. Making it her mission to deliver financial education specifically for women, she then created programs that were years ahead of the curve. Through years of academic research and empirical study of women's behaviors and beliefs about money and investing, Ms. Dentino has developed this practical step-by-step guide. “I’ve worked with hundreds of women who never had a hand in the family’s financial matters – let alone investing – and seen them flourish after finding out that it isn’t about Math skills. The traditional approach on finances is intimidating and confusing.” Understanding women’s increasing likelihood of inheriting the role of family financial manager, the Women Get Financially Fit series demystifies the arcane financial world, but without diluting substance. “Just because Wall Street has done it the same way for a century or more,” cites Ms. Dentino, “doesn’t mean that’s the only way. It’s more important to provide the right starting point and approach.” Through vibrant styling with an artistically designed kit, women progress through the process of financial understanding under the guidance of Ms. Dentino’s board-level knowledge base and insights. The “A – Z” systematic plan prepares women for every eventuality, including “How to Teach Your Kids About Money”. “We know that teaching kids from an early age makes a huge difference. Responsible and savvy money skills become a matter-of-fact habit; gender doesn’t play a role at all,” says Ms. Dentino from her offices in Woodside, CA. “The practical take-away’s that the pro’s use are still there. We just have more fun doing it,” adds Ms. Dentino. In tandem with the launch, Ms. Dentino has created a companion website: Women Get Financially Fit.com where women appreciate content driven by an expert financial services professional who also understands what works for women and what doesn’t. “Women will have access to new-rules learning features while becoming more informed participants. They can be confident that the content is offered free of influence from investment services promotion,” says Ms. Dentino. Additionally, through her speaking and workshop programs, Ms. Dentino delivers her message of “financial empowerment” Ms. Dentino concludes, “It’s critical to break this cycle of self-doubt over complex financial decisions. Women’s greater longevity and social/demographic trends indicate that by the year 2010 they will control 70% of financial assets in the U.S.” In support of her favorite cause, a portion of Ms. Dentino’s book sales will go to the BizWorld Foundation (www.bizworld.org) For additional information, contact Teresa Dentino (teresa@thefinancial411.com or 650. 851. 8959) or visit www.thefinancial411.com.
