Marshall Barnes, a noted research and development engineer with a diverse background in advanced concept technology, will present evidence that will destroy the most popular arguments against the existence of time as part of the scientific program of the MarCon science fiction convention in Columbus, OH. The lecture will be held Saturday, May 23rd at 5:30 PM in the Morrow room in the Ohio Center portion of the Greater Columbus Convention Center in downtown Columbus, OH. Of particular interest will be his case against Julian Barbour and Palle Yourgrau, both academics who argue that time does not exist and have authored books to that effect. Barbour's book, The End of Time was published by Basic Books and argues that the illusion of time can arise out of timelessness. Barbour is a British physicist whose views about time have found some support in the scientific community but are not widely held.
Palle Yourgrau is a professor of philosophy at Brandeis http://www.brandeis.edu/
As an additional example of how scientists seem to regularly misunderstand the nature of time, Marshall will include the evidence from his well received article, Duration Dilation and the Flawed Frightening Experiment http://www.aet-
Marshall's presentation is taken heavily from a book he has been working on that solves many of the questions and issues of not only time, but the physics of potential time travel. That book is being represented by Jeff Herman of the Jeff Herman Agency. Time travel is one of the most popular science subjects now and has been accepted as a topic by many in the mainstream scientific community because there appears to be no laws preventing time travel. Marshall's book is the result of seven years of intense study and research to meet the issues of time and time travel head-on and resolve them with hard evidence, whether it be physical or mathematical, as well as with irrefutable arguments.
