External Support Coordination with Superior Support Services(SSS)
As Utah State DHS/DSPD moves to privatize services allowing for more individual choice in Support Coordination Services, SSS will be there to be a strong advocate for the people they serve.
Private support coordination will allow for more stability by allowing individuals and families to be able to choose and keep their Support Coordinator. There is no cost to the individual and family or decrease in services by choosing a private support coordinator, who are contracted to provide services and report to DHS/DSPD.
The procedure to choose SSS or other private support coordinators is done by talking with the private support coordinator indicating your choice for services(each SCE is allowed up to 40 cases) and then calling Utah DHS/DSPD to have the case file transferred to your SCE.
With DHS/DSPD approval, cases are transferred to the new SCE on the 1st of the next month.
SSS mananger Pamela Smith, received a BS in Child and Family Development, from the University of Utah. She attended The Leadership Academy, with Lisa-Michelle Church and served on the Utah Special Education Advisory Panel committee for two years. Pam has received numerous incentive awards for exceptional work. Pam’s background includes working for the past 5 years as a DHS/DSPD Support Coordinator with previous expreience working in both public and private schools. With EXPERTISE IN THE FOLLOWING SERVICES;
Coordinate with the Division of Services for People with Disabilities for the access and use of funded services.

Assistance through the Medicaid Maze
Help in obtaining Social Security Disabilities Benefits
Accesses community resources
Use of natural supports
Obtaining assistive technology and adaptive equipment
Vocational Rehabilitation Services for job coaching
Crisis Intervention
Attending School IEP’s advocating for students
Assisting with guardianship issues
As SSS begins offering services other quality support coordinators are invited to submit their resume and qualifications in order to be added to the Company SOIQ with Utah DHS/DSPD and to be considered for employment as a SCE with SSS.
